Body awareness

Exercises are designed to impact your body. Maintaining or improving your physical condition can be achieved through exercise, whether it's for a sport or recreational. Being in good health and aware of your body is essential for improving your physical condition.

Mind body connections

The relationship between our mental and physical health has been studied by doctors for centuries. Until the 1800s, most medical professionals trusted that emotions were connected to the disease. Slowly, emotions lost favor as other causes of illness, such as bacteria or toxins, and new treatments such as antibiotics took the place to cure illness.

Stress and health

Recently, scientists have discovered new connections between stress and health. Our current understanding is that there is a strong connection between the mind and body, which allows emotional, mental, social, spiritual, and behavioral factors have a direct impact on our health.

Every day of our lives, we experience the link between the mind and body, regardless of whether we are intentionally aware or not. Most of us have experienced natural mind-body connections, like mouth-watering over a delicious-looking dessert or nervous butterflies in the stomach before a presentation or running a race. The mind-body connection can result in negative outcomes, such as not meeting athletic, academic, or professional goals because of fear that originates from the mind, and fear generate stress.

Stress-generated headaches, tight shoulders, and a sore upper back can be signs of emotional and mental imbalance, which can lead to unhealthy weight gain or loss, insomnia, and high blood pressure. On the other hand, we can make an intentional effort to think more positively and develop healthy coping mechanisms for the challenges and stresses in life. Over time, our emotional and mental health can either harm or benefit the body.

Long term stress affects the body negatively, and over long periods of time, chronic stress can make us more vulnerable to chronics diseases like diabetes, hypertension, heart diseases, and certain infections.

However, by utilizing our inborn body-mind link in a favorable way, by keeping our minds and bodies in shape through activity and nutrition, we can lower stress levels. In other words, the more we are able to cope by remaining calm and lowering psychological stress, the lower our physical stress levels will be, along with the probability of developing a disease.

An activity such as meditation can help change mental perceptions and reactions to situations. The mind and body can relax by becoming aware of tension and anxiety and connecting to the breath.

Basically, we are what we think, eat, drink, say, and breathe. By developing and applying mindfulness to all of these characteristics of life, we can maintain joyful mind-body relationships.

Mind body awareness

Utilizing your natural connection of mind and body, will allow you to be aware of your body during your training and understand if you need to adjust an exercise to keep improving.

Your awareness will improve with time, and you will be able to be more aligned with your goals. Once you concentrate on yourself you will begin to connect with what your body needs and become less distracted by all the trends that are around you.
